9.30am Melbourne Airport.
As a kid I spent a lot of time at airports. Never going anywhere myself, always either seeing my dad off & on some adventure, or some important person my parents were either hosting or interviewing.
I adore airports. The hope, the sadness, the anonymity. . .I can be anyone here. I especially love the smell of aviation fuel.
Now that I've grown up, I'm often the one that's travelling.
10am Melbourne Airport
I'm sitting in seat 44K, a window seat and I'm excited because Qantas have new blankets
and as some of you may already know (see post for 22nd Nov. 2004 "Confession"), I have a slight addiction to them. I've shoved one in my bag (Yes I feel guilty & no I don't condone stealing, but this new blankie will bring me so much joy. . .as I've said before, I would happily buy them if they were for sale-Airlines take note). I hope the hostess who eyed me as I took it from the overhead locker doesn't remember. I can always use my planned excuse (see how premeditated this is. . .I need help
) of "I thought it was complimentary. . .It is wrapped in plastic."
The Guy sitting next to me is doing one of those "Sudoku" logic puzzles. . .I'm so Jealous, I wish I'd brought a book of them along. I guess I'll have to settle for whatever the in-flight entertainment is. . .or read my book ("Sean and David’s Long drive" by Sean Condon. . .not as good as his "My Dam Life" but still though roughly entertaining). There is also the Qantas in-flight magazine, which claims (or boasts, hmmmmn) to be the worlds best airline magazine.
Oh My Goodness!!! There are Sudoku puzzles in my magazine!!! It really is the worlds best airline magazine. . .It read my mind. The guy next to me is using a pencil & is doing a fair bit of erasing. I only have pen so I don't have that luxury.
The flight staff are doing their safety/emergency dance now. Always fun to watch. I hope I'm never in a real airline emergency, I would love a go on one of those big yellow slide thingies though
Take off. . .Bliss.
11.50am Sydney Airport
We've ,made it safely to Sydney. . .I'd forgotten how much I love the landing.
Landing. . . Bliss
My joy expression must be confusing because Mr. Sudoku just asked me if I hated landing. . .Just like the song says "there is a fine line. . ."
12noon Sydney
I'm on the train to Central Sydney now. They have double Decker trains here and if my memory serves me, when you sit on the bottom level you can look up short skirts. I'm not writing this for the perverts out there, more as a friendly warning for short skirt wearing folk
12.30 Central Sydney
I love travelling. . .I'm on such a high, I just want to dance or something.
I have mixed emotions about Sydney. It is a beautiful place to visit.
Pretty.
Not so nice to live in though. Too many one way streets, The people seem less tolerant here and I don't know if it's the right word, but it's not as "cultural" as my Melbourne.
The train system is a joke, it's as though they thought "Hmmmn, let's take all that is bad and confusing about the London Train System and implement it here!"
I must say however that the public transport in general is fun and cheap, for $2.50 I can travel on all bus', trains and ferries all day.
This place isn't secretive like my Melbourne, it seems to shout "LOOK AT ME, DAMMIT!"
I have good memories here, however, this is the place where I met my ugly side.
I'm going to use this trip to build a new Sydney for myself. . .Little Blue, the person I am today.

P.S now apologies for ant typos or spelling errors, I'm sitting in the most expensive internet cafe in the world and I haven't even checked my email yet. . .
