A few months ago I sold a piece at exhibition. Well the show closed on Friday and I've spent the weekend mending the work which had been stretched and damaged at the opening (as you can see in the photos from the gallery). Quite a few people couldn't help themselves and had a good tug on the artwork (much to my amusement), I wanted to fix it before the buyer (a new- media company . . .What is a new media company anyway?. . .and I wonder where the hell they're going to hang it. I'm not sure if it suits a corporate office collection.) picked it up today.
The piece doesn't reproduce well photographically so I'm not sure if you can tell what it is. I'm going to have to make sure I add a different background if I ever knit a similar hanging piece because the white shows up in photographs.
I think I'm writing so much because I'm procrastinating. . .I'm a little scared to show it here.
The piece is called Banal and I purposefully used the ugliest, uneven yarn I could find and then framed it in an ornate golden frame. It was a hit at the show and was the only piece mentioned by the opening speaker (again much to my amusement and that of the other guests at the opening- which was HUGE) The piece was hung (giggle) at . . .ummm. . . natural height.
here goes. . .
