I received an email today. I have never received an email of it's kind before, it came from a friend I haven't seen in quite a few years. He's been living in Mexico and although he's been back in Australia with his partner Rosalba (beautiful name) for a few months we haven't made the effort to see each other. . .I still haven't met Rosalba but I guess I'm going to now. . .
Dear Friend and Partner,
(notice how they haven't chosen to personalise the email with the guests name)
Rosalba and Benjamin
Happily announce that
We will be married
We invite you to come and share this special moment
with us on
Saturday 16th of September 2006
at
2:00 pm
---- ----- ------,
Hawthorn
(entrance on ---- St.)
(The address is Ben’s parents house)
A celebratory afternoon tea will follow the ceremony.
And they all lived happily ever after...
I'm a little confused by the email. Who but Ben would send his wedding invitation via email? It’s kind of fitting. I'm looking forward to the event. I have the strange feeling it's not going to be a very traditional Jewish(Ben) or Mexican(Rosalba) wedding, but I just know it will be a memorable one. . .one of those special weddings where nobody jokingly makes bets on how long it will last.
The question now is, What should I wear???
